Well, now that Christmas is winding down, it's time to talk about New Year's resolutions. Fresh starts, new directions, what's next? I think this is an appropriate introduction for the next season of our lives...
You see, we are laying down everything we have to take a family mission trip for 6 months. Jordan resigned from his job, we're renting our home, and we're packing for warmer weather (at least to start). We are traveling to Kona, Hawaii be part of a Discipleship Training School(DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM)~ man I feel like I'm back in the world of education with all of these acronyms. The focus is Jesus Christ, and spreading the gospel around the world. Mark 16:15 says, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." So, we're doing it! We'll make our home in a small apartment on the mission base in Kona for a 3 month "lecture phase" and then we'll be traveling for a 2 1/2 month "outreach phase!"
There are so many questions to ask. So many "what if?s" or "how will that work?s" but I'm doing the best I can to relinquish all of that, keep peace in my mind, and focus on the wonderful adventure at hand.
Because, I want to be a family who travels. I want to be a mom who can take her kids to new places and sleep in one room. I want to train my kids to serve and give their lives away. If I'm honest, I don't necessarily want to pay the cost always, but the small sacrifices we are all making will surely reap huge rewards!
So, the packing is almost done, the house is feeling a bit empty, and we are READY to go on this once in a lifetime adventure! If we cross your mind, please pray for a smooth transition for the girls. And keep following my blog, because although the posts may fall farther apart, things are sure to get a bit more interesting from here on out!
